Information about music and new artists, just like everything else in our fast-paced society, is continually changing and morphing, creating a fluid stream in which the casual onlooker and listener is unsure of where to jump in. Television, the Internet, and magazines are the best guides to what is happening in the local and global music scene. Still, it is difficult to keep pace with all the new band names, the latest shows, and when new records are being dropped. In other words, why even bother trying to keep up with all the changes and fads in music? Music is subjective. You know what bands and artist you like, therefore you will always know when they are planning new albums or touring in your area.
Music is something that is passed along amongst friends. This is where the greatest music knowledge comes from. Your peers are going to be into all styles and types of music, and perhaps from them you will be introduced to new bands. It is better to listen to what your friends are into than to pretend to like what is on the radio. Sometimes quoting more than a single note about music is hard work.More info here: Stereotypes in music
